How to spot a fake airdrop: a checklist
Real airdrops never need your seed phrase. Use this checklist before connecting a wallet.
Red flags
- Asks for your seed phrase or private key. No legitimate airdrop does. Never share it.
- Asks you to send crypto first to "unlock" or "verify" a claim.
- Link came from a DM, a reply or an ad rather than the project's official site or account.
- Lookalike domain. Check the spelling letter by letter and open the project from its official profile.
- Unlimited token approvals. If a site asks for broad permission to spend your tokens, stop.
- Pressure and deadlines like "claim in 10 minutes".
Safer habits
- Use a separate wallet with a small balance for airdrop activity.
- Confirm funding and the real product before spending time: look for named investors and a working app.
- Revoke old token approvals regularly.
- Remember that points are not a promise of a token.
We only list projects with disclosed funding and a real product. See the verified list.
