ARC token minted but not tradable: what it means
When Circle launched the Arc mainnet on September 16, 2026, it also created the full ARC supply. That does not mean you can buy or receive ARC today.
What is reported
- 10 billion ARC were minted at mainnet launch.
- Circle called this a technical milestone, not a commitment to a public offering.
- Reports say ARC is not publicly available: it is not tradable, stakable, or used for fees or governance.
- Network fees are paid in USDC, and the network still runs on a permissioned model, with broader proof-of-stake explored toward 2027.
What it means for you
- "Minted" is not "launched". Tokens can exist on a blockchain without being available to anyone outside the company.
- A presale (Circle raised $222 million in May 2026) is not an airdrop. See airdrop vs presale.
- No airdrop for regular users has been announced.
Treat any site that offers to sell or give you ARC now as suspicious. Check Circle's and Arc's official channels.
